KYENJOJO DISTRICT STARTS EMPLOYEES' VERIFICATION

Kyenjojo district has started the verification exercise of employees in the district.

This came about as a result of management failure to trace the physical presence of some staff, especially parish chiefs, and principal town agents in the 167 parishes and 31 lower local governments.

The chief administrative officer, Mr. Amis Asuman Masereka, informed that this physical verification had only started with parish chiefs and principal town agents, but would extend to all staff employed by the district in the sub counties, Town councils, and district headquarters.

He also used the platform to caution civil servants, heading into the political season to be cautious as they are supposed to be impartial in elections. He called upon everyone to implement the NRM manifesto, as it’s the government in power, regardless of anyone’s political affiliation.

Everyone was also called upon to endeavor to have correct corresponding information on their files, tallying with national ID, bank accounts and academic documents.

The District Production Marketing Officer, Mr. Shem Ssekyanzi, used the platform and informed the meeting that as per end of FY 2024/25, 51.8bn had so far been disbursed to beneficiaries in the entire district. He thanked everyone for the efforts in achieving this.

He encouraged the chiefs to follow up on usage of these funds by beneficiaries, and also always remind the beneficiaries of the repayment time of these funds. Beneficiaries are given a grace period of one year from the time these funds are disbursed to them. He also called upon the Parish chiefs and town agents to always sensitize beneficiaries through PDC meetings before these funds are extended to them, and have reports and minutes of such filed.

Speaking at the same engagement, the LC5 chairman, Mr. Gilbert Rubaihayo, thanked the district leadership for the initiative and good work done in the last financial year.

He reiterated that information reaching him, is that absenteeism is still high in the district, and thus cautioned staff against this.

He informed everyone that verification is not meant to witch hunt anyone, but ensure presence of every Parish Chief and Town Agents in their areas of work, as information reaching him also shows some have not been reporting to their work stations.

He applauded everyone for implementing PDM as one of the core areas of interest in the country’s development.

He also called upon the chiefs and agents to improve revenue collection as it’s the backbone of the district to implement its various activities and priorities.

He encouraged mobilization of the population to improve hygiene, sanitation and production, cautioned them to always establish the truth in their work, live in harmony with one another, learn the savings culture, avoid leisure, and engage in productive activities.
